SYKES Philippines signs Memorandum of Agreement with UP College of Engineering
SYKES sets another breakthrough as it forms a new partnership with one of the country’s premier universities. University of the Philippines’ College of Engineering inked a Memorandum of Agreement with SYKES Philippines on January 31 at the Melchor Hall (College of Engineering).
This partnership between SYKES and UP was established as part of the Data Science Academy, an undergraduate program that seeks to promote data science in the BPO industry.
“Data science directly impacts the way we live today. From chat bots, artificial intelligence (AI) to RPA (robotic process animation), data science processes and analyzes meaningful information to create insights on customer experience that can help boost businesses today in this age of technology and innovation,” shared by Ron Favor, Head of Digital Business Solutions Team.
SYKES’ Digital Business Solutions Team advocates the importance of data science activities in the academe. This serves as an avenue to nurture the students’ interest in data science through internships and teaching opportunities.
SYKES was inspired to form this partnership with UP for its excellence in educating leaders in the field of data science. In fact, it was a homecoming of sorts for the Digital Business Solutions team who all hailed from UP. Ron Favor (Program Manager) and Natalie Diesta (Junior Data Scientist) are UP alumnus from the Institute of Mathematics. Dylan Valerio (Data Scientist) is a recent UP master’s graduate in Computer Science while Twinkle Joy Melchor (Researcher) is currently taking up a Master’s Degree in Statistics.
Through this collaboration, SYKES hopes to work closer with the academe in promoting innovation and technology in the country.
