In football, the fullback has two jobs: 1) Clear the way and 2) Protect his teammates. Mark Kyle, a former Clemson University fullback, does both of these things — except now that his football days are behind him, he does them on the call center floor for SYKES. As a full-service payroll agent for Intuit, Mark embodies one of SYKES’ core values to Answer the Challenge. “Even during challenging times, Mark maintains a positive attitude and encourages his coworkers, including his leaders,” says his manager Steve Rex. “Mark sends encouraging messages at least weekly to his coworkers, such as ‘Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave person is not he/she who does not feel afraid, but who conquers that fear.’”
What do you do?
I flex between phones and our chat contacts depending on the volume in each space. I know how hard it can be for small business owners to keep up with payroll and payroll taxes, so I make sure they’re taken care of every day and during the busy tax season.
What’s a typical day at SYKES like?
I clock in, check my laptop and dive into any emails. Then I flex between phones and chat support, depending on where I’m needed.
What’s the best part about working with SYKES?
Getting to help others and not having to travel. In my previous job, I traveled all the time.
What accomplishment are you most proud of at SYKES?
Being named Employee of the Month!
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love taking my boat out and fishing, particularly bass and catfish.
