Since her first day on the job as a customer service representative at SYKES, Lisa has had one mission: Make every human interaction count. After experiencing a debilitating stroke in 2015, doctors were certain she would never walk, see or talk again. A surgery helped her regain all three functions and get her life back. Her doctors consider her a walking miracle — and it’s a second chance she doesn’t take for granted. It made her realize that what truly matters is how we make others feel. “That’s what people will remember when you’re gone,” says Lisa. ‘How you treated people.”

What do you do?
I help Intuit customers (mostly employers) find the best resolution to any issues they’re having with the software. We fix their issue so they’re able to get back to their business.

What’s a typical day at SYKES like?
I spend most days on the phone helping Intuit clients with payroll and tax issues. As a long-time bookkeeper, it’s a natural fit. Most of the time, they’re calling in to get reassurance. I help walk them through any issues and point them to the right resources. I also do some peer mentoring, helping train new customer service reps.

What’s the best part about working with SYKES?
The family atmosphere. I don’t think I’ve met a stranger in this place. Management is constantly doing little things that make us all feel like we’re important. It makes you want to work harder. The family atmosphere that SYKES offers creates an environment where you can advance and grow, without fear of being judged or criticized.

What are your favorite hobbies?
Spending time with my rescue German Shepherd Zeus, fishing, being a grandma to my five (soon to be six!) grandbabies, and going to Rod Runs (a.k.a. car shows … I’m a big car enthusiast and used to have a ‘48 Chevy coupe).

What’s your motto?
“If it’s the client’s concern, it’s my concern.”

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Healing

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
Teacher

What actress would play you in a movie?
Phyllis Diller

What’s the best part of your job?
I love helping people. I like that sound of relief and satisfaction you hear in someone’s voice when you’ve helped them through something really hard. It just makes you feel awesome.
