Michael has spent his whole life having to prove himself. Though he was born legally blind in one eye, he credits his parents with pushing him his entire life to never let this challenge hold him back. “You do it, not because of a disability, but in spite of it,” they’d say. “Don’t let it determine what you are and who you are.” Before joining SYKES, Michael was an x-ray technician. “I traveled around doing contract work, and every time I walked into a new place, I’d have to prove myself over and over again. I’d walk in and tell them, ‘I may be legally blind, but I’ll get the job done’.” He did get it done — and today, as a customer service and floor support agent, he still is.
