Last October 28, SYKES Pride Scholars, together with their parents, paid a courtesy call to SYKES Senior Management Team in an intimate gathering held at the company’s site in Glorietta, Makati City. They were welcomed by Senior Director for Regional Human Resources, Ms. Doodoo Marcos; Regional Security Director, Mr. Tim Scyner; Regional IT Senior Director, Mr. Fred King; and Regional Branding and Communications Director, Ms. Cecile Venancio. This is the first batch of the SYKES Pride Scholars since the program’s launch earlier this year.
During the program, Ms. Doodoo Marcos shared some wisdom to the scholars, reminding them to study hard and to continue making their parents proud.
“You were chosen to become our scholar because we know that you have the potential to excel. True to the program’s name, we are proud to have you on board and we are more than excited to see where this partnership goes,” she says.
Many of the parents and students share the same sentiments on being chosen for the scholarship. Pride and gratitude were among the many feelings that they’ve expressed during the program.
“I’ve never felt so blessed and filled with joy. I work alone and it’s hard for me to provide everything for my family. Prior to the scholarship, we still have unpaid dues at my son’s school. Being selected for the program truly helped us a lot. Now, we won’t have to worry so much about his education,” shared Reman, one of the parents of the chosen SYKES Pride Scholar.
“Being chosen for the program was a great help for us. We’re currently sending 3 kids to school and we pay their tuition monthly. Because of the grant, we were able to pay one of my kids’ tuition fees in full, and it really helped us ease our monthly expenses,” said Eden, another SYKES Pride Scholar parent.
As part of the courtesy call, the SYKES Branding and Communications team gave away exclusive SYKES bags to the students, while parents received shirts as a small token.
Simultaneously, SYKES Cebu also held their courtesy call on the same day, with the participants meeting SYKES’ Vice President for Operations and Global Shared Services, John Sneed.
SYKES Pride Scholarship is an exclusive privilege for SYKES employees’ dependents. The 30 chosen scholars each received PHP 25,000.00 in financial assistance from SYKES for the current school year.
